What it is and some advice on how to use it in your startup.
When I got started on my “entrepreneurial journey”, I was an introverted 17 year old software developer (I use that term liberally – I was really an “OK” engineer at best).
Back then I despised “selling” and thought it was “slimey” and that if you had to “sell” your product, you were in the wrong business.
Fast forward 15 years and I now understand that selling is a critical skill that every single entrepreneur needs. Now, I’m not talking about just getting on the phone and selling customers or partners. I’m also talking about selling new hires to come join your company and also selling potential investors on the benefits of giving you a term sheet.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned so far, it’s that you NEED to master selling. In this video I want to share some tips with you that helped me go from an introvert who hated selling to a slightly-less-introverted entrepreneur who understands and harnesses the power of selling to hire incredible talent and raise capital from some of the world’s best investors in a way that’s easy, fun and very powerful.
